Job Description Summary

Work Site: 101 West Waukau Ave. Oshkosh, WI 54902

Pay: Starting at $23.00/hr., with wage rate progression at 36 actually worked days, 6 months, 12 months, and 18 months of employment.

Durations/Usual Hours Per Week: Permanent, full-time, non-exempt. 40 hours/week minimum

Overtime: Voluntary; for all hours worked in excess of eight8 in any workday; for hours worked in excess of forty 40 in a workweek; or for Saturday work typically 5 hour shifts if offered.

Shift/Work Days: First Shift Only. Monday-Friday. 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform various operations required to make skids, crates, and boxes for packing and shipping of finished transformers, components, vendor returns, machine and die parts in accordance with established procedures. Cut dunnage materials as required in the use of securing products being shipped. Perform clerical work, staging or assembling of orders, moving from one location to another, packing, labeling, loading and checking material for shipment to domestic and foreign destinations.
  • Receive direction from Supervisor on shipping notices, debit memorandums and instructions to identify and match shipping papers and bill of lading with parts and/or assembled units to be shipped to customers. Use hoist, forklift trucks, table saw, portable circular saw, air nailing guns and staplers, steel and plastic strappers and a variety of packing material, protective paper, and foam products. Verify finished goods accuracy, perform cycle counts and input to computer.
  • Check material to be shipped and determine appropriate skid, crate, box or carton requirement. Make applicable calculations to make wood skids, boxes, or blocking material as assigned. Operate table saw or portable circular saw to cut wood to proper length. Wrap units with barrier paper, use dunnage blocks, etc., to secure shipments. Steel strap cartons and skid-loaded material.
  • Fill in and use UPS label printer and/or apply prepared labels to shipment containers or mark them to indicate destination, customer, and reference number. Weigh material for shipment, as required. Use lift truck to load material onto truck or trailers. Record required information to shipping documents and deliver to designated location.
  • Service truck with oil, water, or propane, as appropriate, and make out operator checkoff sheet as prescribed.
  • Detect and report faulty operation, defective material, unusual conditions or shipping problems to proper Supervisor.
  • Perform an occasional carpentry assignment in and around the plant area, as assigned.
  • Maintain work area in neat and orderly condition. Make out time and production reports.
  • Observe all safety regulations.
  • Train new hires and cross-train existing personnel as needed.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications of Employer

Over 2 years up to and including 3 years of experience desired. Requires the use of ordinary arithmetic in decimals and fractions. Work with shipping notices, debit memorandums, and stock locator file. Accuracy required in checking and posting quantities and related data. Make skids, boxes and blocking materials, and load trucks. Perform packing and shipping operations. Judgment is required to properly store material, make up orders, operate material handling equipment, compile and post to a variety of records and reports in support of finished goods inventory accuracy. Direct and assist others in the proper performance of their work. Moderate physical effort to handle materials, make up orders. Equivalent to frequently handling average weight materials. Continuous mental and visual attention necessary to perform various duties requiring constant alertness and activity. Responsible for directing and assisting 2 to 4 persons.
