Pay:  Salaried, Exempt/Based on experience

Durations/Usual Hours Per Week: Permanent, full-time.

Shift/Work Days: First Shift. Monday-Friday. 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Job Description Summary: Plan and perform investigative studies of labor, material and equipment, develop and report on recommendations for improvement and provide support in their implementation, under the general direction of the Chief Engineer. Participate in the preparation of capital expenditure requests and feasibility reports, as assigned. Develop improvements to manufacturing methods. Establish manufacturing time standards and prepare workstation layouts. Actively participate in cost reduction programs and analyze value of proposals and suggestions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform detail studies of operation using sound industrial engineering principles and procedures. Prepare detail layouts of workstations to optimize the efficiency of work methods and machine operations.
  • Perform engineering assistance to Materials, Engineering, and Operations Management in defining operation sequence, tooling and fixture requirements. Perform feasibility studies on new or modified equipment, tooling and machining, as assigned.
  • Investigate production problems, develop new or revised operating methods and provide support to superior and manufacturing management in the determination and development of required capital expenditures. Participate in the implementation of approved projects concerned with tools, fixtures and special purpose machinery and provide assistance to Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer, as required.
  • Analyze operations, develop motion economy and manufacturing time standards applicable to cost estimating and production standards. Use stop-watch time study and analyses of historical data to develop elemental time data, summarize, define variables, and prepare charts and reference tables.  Provide support and assistance to Cost Accounting, as required.  Develop operation process specifications.
  • Participate in Engineering Society Programs and Seminars to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Manufacturing methods and procedures in industry.
  • Occasional travel to SNC Mexico to work on product transitions and product launches.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or associated with the responsibility.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications Of Employer

  • Education: Equivalent to high school plus a broad practical background with specialized training comparable to 2 years of college in industrial/manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience: Over 3 years up to and including 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of electrical transformer manufacturing practices, methods and procedures. Familiar with bench assembly, special purpose machine, molding, coating and testing operations, test specifications and quality assurance requirements.
  • Considerable judgment is required to work independently, analyze operations and contribute to improved methods and procedures. Ability to analyze labor material and equipment, develop recommendations for improvement of operations and assist in implementation.  Provide efficient tools, jigs and fixtures. Train employees in the proper performance of new methods. Make decisions guided by precedent and within limits of established policies.
  • Considerable accuracy and responsibility are involved.
  • Contacts involve dealing with all levels of management on matters that require explanation, discussion and obtaining approvals. Considerable tact is required.
  • Flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention, along with manual coordination for over 50% of the time.
  • SOLIDWORKS CAD software experience desired, but not required.
